Over the past month or so we've really noticed Jake start to recognize Sadie as part of the family. He likes to show her off to the neighborhood kids, he brings her pacifiers when she's in her crib, makes sure we know when she's crying or upset, and gives her a kiss everynight before bed. And, he LOVES to lay down in the crib with her. It cracks him up like it is the funniest joke he's ever heard. But just overall he seems to include her in his thoughts. When we talk about going somewhere, he reminds us to bring Sadie, and when I fold the laundry he points out all of Sadie's outfits. And he wasn't ever that rough with her, but his occasional bonks to her head have disappeared.
But last night, I was on the floor holding Sadie while Jake ran around from his lawnmower to his rocket to his blocks to his trucks-- just full of energy. I held Sadie up as if she were standing up and joked that she was walking. Jake was SO excited. His attention had been focussed on all of his toys, but he RAN over to us yelling "Sadie walk! Sadie walk! Sadie walk!" I felt so bad and had to explain that I was just holding her up and that it would be a while before she could walk around. But you could just see how much he wanted to be able to play with her and have her run around with him. It was pretty cute.
