Greetings from Orlando

When you're on travel for business you rarely get to see much of the city you're in, and that's the case here. I haven't seen much, but I do know the Orange County Convention Center inside and out, and I now know most of the dockworkers there, too. This is my third year helping out with this show and you always meet some interesting folks who work behind the scenes to make these things happen.

Fred and I have walked the length of the convention center about 50 times. Upper management gets fancy Segway scooters, but they don't venture far from the VIP lounges so I'm not sure what they need them for.

Looking forward to going home soon. Mike and Pat uploaded some pictures from the lake. Looks like Jake is having the time of his life riding old tractors and golf carts and boats!

A Week Apart

A lot of people have to travel frequently for work so I guess I shouldn't complain too much about one trip. I leave early tomorrow morning for Orlando for the week, and Ali's headed down to the Lake. On the upside, I should be able to catch up on some sleep. On the downside, I like being with Jake and the girls. I know when I see Jake later this week he'll have picked up some new words and have some new experiences to talk about. And Sadie will continue to develop her self defense techniques with Jake. A week is a long time when they're this young. Oh, and I'll miss Ali too. :)

Here's a picture from today at Gravelly Point. It's not the picture you'd frame and hang as your family photo -- you can barely see one out of three faces -- but I think it captures today pretty well. We didn't go to Target, or run any errands, or do anything chore-related. We ate outside twice, relaxed at home some, and had fun playing soccer and football. It was a really nice day.

Happy Mother's Day!

Happy Mother's Day to all the Moms out there, especially Ali, Pat and Carol!

Both kids slept in a little bit, so that was a nice present. Jake helped me cook breakfast for Mommy, but he insisted that it was her birthday. He wasn't buying the "Mother's Day" thing. We had a really nice morning and now we're off to Gravelly Point to kick the soccer ball around and watch planes takeoff.

Yesterday we went to Burke Lake Park and rode a 1/3 scale train. Here we are in front of the engine. More pictures coming soon.
