Jake's Weekly Video Pick

This week's video is from the Pipettes, a current British band pretending to be a 60's girl group. This one's animated, which is probably why Jake loves it, but in their regular videos they also have coordinated polka dot outfits and dance moves. They're fun. Jake likes to watch this video over and over and over. "More ABCs!"

Here is Jake watching the video intently:

Here is Jake clapping when it's over:

Tripdub Turns One!

Well, today is tripdub's one year birthday. One hundred and ninety-seven posts later, here are a few stats:
  • 98 percent of tripdub readers are in the U.S., but we also have a pretty good following in Ireland (Slainte, Reillys!) and China (Ni Hao, Fergusons!)
  • Top internet searches that bring random people to tripdub: Amodex and Pipettes
  • Most popular video on tripdub: Pizza! (153 views)
  • Busiest day on tripdub: March 19, 2007 (234 views)
In other news, Monday I stayed home with Sadie in the morning while Ali spent a few hours at work and Jake was at pre-school. She and I don't get as much one-on-one time together as Jake and I did when he was her age, so it was a nice morning. I let her feed herself some yogurt:

And then we played dress-up. Here's a video of Sadie walking around in her Baby Prison Stripe PJs, with a ballerina tutu (this is why Dads get a bad reputation for dressing their kids):

Field Trip

Ali and I, and our good friend Heidi (minus Jamie), went out tonight to see the Pipettes at the Black Cat. It was like turning the clock back about four years to when we lived right down the street from the Black Cat and used to see lots of shows there. Except this time we had a babysitter - and not just any babysitter, but a real non-grandparent, non-friend, teenage girl babysitter who lives in the neighborhood. She's an older sister of one of the kids Jake plays with and she did great. We told her this was our first real babysitter and we weren't sure what we needed to tell her. She kind of shrugged her shoulders and said the cell phone number we left her was fine. Jake was already asleep when the babysitter came over, and I know he'll be disappointed about two things: 1) he missed an opportunity to entertain someone new, and 2) he missed one of his favorite bands. Well, Jake, they put on a great show but you probably wouldn't have been able to see much anyway from your perspective.
